I left my house late last night
To walk to the neighborhood park
When came upon me a shocking fright
Out of the dreadful dark
Its face was ghastly, white as paste
Fangs so long and deadly
I turned to flee, to make haste
For I knew it wasn’t friendly
It grabbed me quickly, like a snake
Claws like razor blades
And sank its teeth, the blood to take
From my flowing veins
I had no choice but to comply
My knees so weak with fear
When it was done it let me lie
But still it stayed quite near
I felt the pain all through my limbs
As I began the change
But soon was bursting with much vim
And didn’t feel so strange
My sight was heightened, bright as day
My teeth became extended
I knew he’d turned me to his way
I knew my life had ended
And suddenly I felt an urge
An overwhelming flood
A feeling I just couldn’t purge
To drink another’s blood
The creature led me home again
To join my family
And though I knew it was a sin
I drank them all with glee
With bellies full and satisfied
We dug our graves of earth
And laid ourselves like those who’ve died
To wait the night’s rebirth
